F1 2009 is a racing game taking place in the 2009 season of Formula One. The game includes all tracks, teams, and drivers from the 2009 season including night racing in the Singapore Grand Prix. The game offers several help functions to make steering the car easier. These can of course be turned off for more realism. F1 2009 is a video game based on the 2009 season of the Formula One motor racing series.[1] The game was confirmed by Codemasters on 9 May 2008.[2] It was released on the Wii and PlayStation Portable[3][5] on 16 November 2009, in North America, 19 November in the PAL region and 20 November in the United Kingdom. The game was also out on iOS on 14 December 2009 for £6.99.[4] The PlayStation Portable version was also available as a download from the PlayStation Store from 16 November.[4]

Development and features

F1 2009 marks the first time since Electronic Arts’ F1 Challenge ’99–’02 that a Formula One game has been released on multiple platforms. Sony previously held the rights to F1 and released games only on their consoles: PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3. The game engine is based on the Ego Engine that Codemasters has used on past racing games Dirt, Race Driver: Grid and Dirt 2.[2][6][7] Codemastersreleased limited bundles of F1 2009 with Formula One-style wheels; the Wii Remote slots into this.[8]

The game features all the circuits that are on the 2009 calendar including the Marina Bay Street Circuit for night racing and the new Yas Marina Circuit. The game only features the 20 drivers that started the 2009 Formula One season and does not include the driver changes that were made during the season.[9]
